I have been lucky enough to experience pregnancy twice in my life and both times I found it transformative. Here is a new mom, departing from her own identity as a "girl" and leaving it behind for her new transformation into a woman. Her dress resembles a pillar of a Greek temple, whereas motherhood demands that we create a solid and stable environment for which to raise the baby. This new mom is already holding her baby as she holds her stomach. She is holding herself too, to give herself courage and nurturing for what is ahead.
