We met only for a single day; this little dancer who had just been promoted to dancing in toe shoes, and myself, an artist far from home at a gallery event. That night in the gallery, she modeled and I told her story in the clay. She had just left home at 10 to pursue her dreams in the ballet. Her willingness to walk out alone, as if on a tightrope, was evident. I understood her love of dance, her dreams, her persistence. I felt that same kind of commitment to art when I was her age. We were just two shooting stars crossing in space and we now have a story to tell about each other, and this little bronze sculpture that keeps the childhood dream eternal.
